It's Now The Year of 2007 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Len Bai
Monday, 01 January 2007

The flat cleaning last night brought us from the old year to the new year 2007. We cleaned every room comprehensively and threw out all the rubbish. In Chinese, it meant 'Ci Jiu Ying Xin'. To say farewell to the past welcomes a new start.

Often times people make wishes at a start point. Here I also make two wishes at the first day of the year.

The Last Day of 2006, in Chinese Fireworks Co. Ltd. PDF Print E-mail
Written by Len Bai
Sunday, 31 December 2006

Today is the 31st of December, the last day in 2006. I was working in Chinese Fireworks, with Melissa, Paul, Mark, John, and of course Shay, the owner of the company and his dad Ken, a very very kind senior.

We actually have turned the boss-staff relationship into a sort of friendship with Shay and his families. I didn't feel that I was working for him. It's like to do a lovely favour to a friend. The work was easy and interesting. The new year's atmosphere was full of the store, accompanied by the sound of fireworks, the festival music, the smile on everybody's face.

Never Buy the Cheap Price Without Looking the Goods Itself PDF Print E-mail
Written by Len Bai
Friday, 29 December 2006

A very funny thing happened at my very close mate Bernard's home.

Being back to Sheffield from Edinburgh, we were invited by Bernard to have his new cooking 'salad potato' and a kind of soup especially for winter. The food was delicious and Bernard seemed to be a good man taking very good care of his girlfriend Lijun who travelled from Malaysia to the UK.

After we finished the dinner, Bernard began to show off some cheap goods from his fridge. An outstanding one was a nice looking 'Christmas Cake' which was only 50p, discounted from 4.99 pounds. What a Bargain! We all wowed and expected to taste...

Something About the Chinese Buffet and Hotpot in Edinburgh PDF Print E-mail
Written by Len Bai
Thursday, 28 December 2006

There is a Chinese buffet restaurant called 'china china' in Edinburgh. It's located in OMNI centre where is opposite to John Lewis near the Princess street. We went there twice. The first time, we had hotpot buffet. It's £11.99 per person plus 15% service charge. All vegetables and meats are included in the price, as well as the first seafood. The seafood ordered afterwards and drinks need to be paid as extra. The food was alright and it was very nice to have hotpot in such a cold winter night in Edinburgh.

Back From The 'Pre-Honeymoon' in Edinburgh PDF Print E-mail

propose-at-edinburgh-castle.jpgAs I wished before, we have had a very merry Christmas in Edinburgh. Because of the closure of most places (especially some travel agencies) during the holiday, we had to stay in the city. There's a bit pity that we couldn't go to High Land. But on the other hand, we had plenty of time to hang around within the city and stop at every point as long as we liked. We didn't have to rush from one place to another. I like this kind of 'slow travel', not just look and go.

The real city centre of Edinburgh is not big, which only consists of several main streets like Princess street, High street and Queen street. The style of the city's architecture is quite different from others in England's cities. Most buildings are very old and you would have a feeling that you were back to centuries years ago. The scottish culture was everywhere in the city, not only from buildings, but from people, language, clothing, music, food, street decoration etc...
