After having a meal with friends late this afternoon, on the way back to lab, I saw that many people holding cameras gathered in front of Cathedral. There were a few posts and signs indicating there's something about Sheffield football. By talking to a gentleman beside me, I realised that today was the 150th birthday of Sheffield FC, the world's oldest football club. Right here tonight, the president of FIFA Sepp Blatter is a guest of honor for the celebration ceremoney starting at 6:00pm in Cathedral. And next month there will be a friendly game between Inter Milan and Sheffield FC in Sheffield.
Although Sheffield FC is the world's first club of the most popular sport - football, it never plays at the professional level. This means that it differs from the two professional clubs that the city of Sheffield has, United and Wednesday. Previously I thought Sheffield FC was United. I was wrong.
The gentleman I talked with is now a football writer. He spent 35 years in Texas, US being a football coach and a racing motorbike coach. Now he travels around the world over 68 countries to watch football events. He also runs a blog at www.ronsblog.com.

Thought on Confession of Pain |

I haven't looked after my website for quite a long time since Melissa has gone to Hong Kong. It's been nearly three weeks and I haven't got used to such kind of single life which I was actually dreaming for when we two were together. There is always dilemma in life. When you dont have something, you are eager to have it. But once you have got it, it then becomes nothing to you. This thing to me, was 'freedom', and it can be anything to others I think.
In the film 'Confession of Pain', the private detective acted by Jin Chengwu said 'you can never imagine the pain when the person who was with you everyday has suddenly gone, forever'. Now, I somewhat touched such sort of feeling. But luckily, we are just away from each other for a not very long period. I look forward to the day when we meet up again. And I wish we could be together, forever.

We were invited for a dinner by a friend yesterday, at his gorgeous home. They are a very kind couple, both Chinese, who have lived in the UK for over 10 years. Their home is a beautiful detached house, with a big rear garden. It's so far the best house I've visited around in Sheffield. It's been really well looked after and decorated, and designed for living a comfortable life.
And the dinner was delicious as well. I want to thank them for giving us the chance to know how good the life in the UK can be, as long as you continuously work hard and creatively.

Something About Digital Photos |

The advances of digital technologies do make our lives easier than before, but certainly there is some kind of pressure, at least to me, on how to store and manage increasingly large amount of digital photos, both locally and online.
Nearly everybody now has a digital camera and taking photos is no longer a difficult thing. Years before, people had to go to photography shops to take and buy photos. I believe this seldom happens nowadays. And photography shops must change the way of doing business and provide new services, in order to survive in the Digital Era.
After being back from Greece, I found my harddisk was again facing the low space warning, caused by a great number of photos dumped out from my cameras. It took time and mind to organise these photos but ended up with a newly updated online gallery. Please show some kindness, have a look at:

I recommend you to use Slideshow to view photos, which frees your fingers clicking mouse.
