When constructing my new site with using Joomla, I first deployed the latest Joomla 1.5 edition. But in the end, I gave up it. Being a beta edition, Joomla 1.5 is actually not recommended as a commercial product, said on its official website. With the curiosity to new stuff, I installed Joomla 1.5 and quickly found this was a big bug. The installation directory was the root folder of www.bailianjun.com. When I accessed the site through Internet Explorer, the root domain of the site became to http://www.bailianjun.com/cgi-system/ which was obviously an error and therefore caused all other pages not accessible. After checking the Joomla forum, I realised that this was a known problem and the only solution was to download a Nighty Build at http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/17/60/. This is not very convenient indeed to a user but there seems no other ways to avoid the cgi-system path problem. I then got a Nighty Build edition and had a new installation. The path problem had gone, but there were other small bugs around in creating new content and modifying templates. In a word, it is not a stable system, and as said on the Joomla website, Joomla 1.5 is now only for testing and bug reporting. Finally I had to go back to the stable release Joomla 1.11 with which we have developed a couple of CMS projects for customers. There's always a long way before a product is made mature and robust to put into market. Sometimes it is very difficult to make a completely bug free product. So, in order to get market share as soon as possible, decisions and actions must be made and taken very quickly. This can be proved by the Microsoft Model. Microsoft are very successful by selling products out at the first time and then releasing patch and patch and patch... It is a right strategy in IT industry.
