Liu Xiang, the world greatest hurdler, has come to Sheffield, to race at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix on the 15th of July. Sheffield CSSA (Chinese Student and Scholar Association) organised a meeting yesterday with Liu Xiang at Don Valley stadium. Hunderds of students appeared and took photos with him. I've seen some photos on CSSA website in which Liu Xiang was smiling with students. He seemed relaxed and confident. I hope he can to get a golden medal in Sheffield. Sheffield, ever famed by its sports industry and facilities, has seen a couple of Chinese sports celebrities. The first big name was Hao Haidong, who joined Sheffield United Football Club in 2005. That was heading news in Chinese sports media since Hao was the No.1 footballer in China. Students in Sheffield were excited about Hao's arriving. But Hao didn't bring too much surprise to us during his stay in Sheffield and few of us know where he is now. The second one should be Ding Junhui, a Talent snooker player from China. His matches have been watched on BBC by people around the world. Now Ding lives and studies in Sheffield. Then it comes to Li Tie, who used to be a middle field player in Everton Club but joined in SUFC in 2006. Tie's coming didn't attract much attention because he hasn't played any premier league matches for SUFC so far. Now, it's Liu Xiang's time. There are some big posters of him appearing in Sheffield city centre. I think every Chinese will be proud of seeing his posters here. Wish Liu Xiang give the best performance to the world, in Sheffield. Add as favourites (31) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1303
